Bobbi's Beans and Grains Mix

* Combine, place in a plastic freezer baggie and store in the refrigerator:

2 pounds of brown rice Quarter cup of oat groats Quarter cup of pearled barley Quarter cup of buckwheat groats Quarter cup of bulgar Quarter cup of spelt Quarter cup of rye

* Combine 15-20 different kinds of dried beans and peas and store in closed jars.

To prepare the recipe:

Place 1 cup of dry popcorn kernels in a slow cooker, cover with about 6 inches of water and cook for about 10 hours. Drain and cool the cooked popcorn kernels.

Chop 1 cup of pecans or walnuts or almonds.

Measure out 3 cups of the rice and grains mix from the mix in the baggie and cook.

Cook 3 cups of the combined dried beans and dried peas with a half pound of chopped hot peppers. Drain well and cool slightly.

Cook 2 cups of small pasta with a half pound of chopped hot peppers. Drain well and cool slightly.

Combine the popcorn kernels, the chopped nuts, the pasta, the rice/grains and the beans with a 16 ounce bag of frozen sweet green peas and a 16 ounce bag of frozen mixed veggies. Add the frozen veggies and the chopped nuts alternatively with the hot ingredients.

Package the mix in small plastic baggies. Express the air, flatten the baggies and freeze. Each baggie should contain about 160 grams - enough to feed 3 birds for one day or enough for 1 bird for 3 days.

To serve: thaw about 2 minutes in the microwave on one side. Turn the package over and thaw about 1 and a half minutes.
